On August 13th 1521, heroically defended by Cuauhtémoc, Tlatelolco fell into the power of Hernán Cortés. It was neither triumph nor defeat, it was the painful birth of the mestizo people, which is today’s Mexico
On October the 2nd 1968, a terrible massacre occurred in Tlatelolco, where hundreds of people were gunned down. This was the culmination of several crimes that could be considered crimes against humanity, which were perpetrated by the Mexican government against the student social movement.
On September 19th 1985, the Nuevo León building collapsed in Tlatelolco after a magnitude 7.1 earthquake hit Mexico City.
